Riverside Avondale in Jacksonville Florida one of the country's Top 10 Great Neighborhoods
Historic Jacksonville neighborhood of Riverside Avondale and one of the coolest
The Riverside Avondale area is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Jacksonville, Florida and in my opinion has got to be one of the coolest. After all it was listed in the National Registry of Historic Places and voted as one of the country’s Top 10 Great Neighborhoods. Here you’ll find a very unique part of history and a mix of culture, charm and modern design. One of the many reasons I like helping people buy and sell real estate in Riverside Avondale is the uniqueness of every home. No two houses are alike here and there are all types and price ranges, from quaint little bungalows, to million dollar waterfront homes along the St Johns River.

Memorial Park is a great place to people watch, take photos or just relax under a tree with a good book or spend the day at the world class Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens. Be sure and visit King St in Riverside Avondale– Since 2005 a revitalization has taken place after the tone was set by a popular beer bar for more establishments, many of which are craft beer oriented. Now you’ll find many restaurants, shops and night clubs frequented by the locals
King Street has experienced a revival since 2005 following a successful street scaping project. A popular beer bar that opened that year set the tone for later establishments, many of them craft beer oriented. Subsequently, the district has become the plantation house of many bars, restaurants, stores, and night clubs, as well as an arts district and two craft breweries to the north. As a result of this growth, the King Street District emerged as Jacksonville’s beer hub in the 2010s.
Saturdays are a great time to peruse the Riverside Arts Market which is held right underneath the Fuller Warren Bridge from 10am – 4pm every Saturday from March till December. There’s usually live music, you can sample fresh foods and buy organic produce as well as find works from local artist. Boone Park in Riverside Avondale is a great place to bring a blanket and maybe a picnic basket and enjoy lunch under a shade tree. 26 acres make up Boone Park also provides charcoal grills, covered gazebos, and walking paths as well as tennis courts, 14 clay lighted courts and two lighted asphalt courts.
There are many great places to enjoy in the Riverside Avondale area of Jacksonville…. I remember many from my childhood. Easter egg hunts in Willow Branch Park, my mom dragging me through the Shoppes of Avondale, fishing on the St Johns River between houses on the access streets and riding bicycles down the old cobblestone or old brick roads (some which still exist today)
